Every year Walk In My Shoes (WIMS) runs a radio station dedicated to promoting positive mental health awareness. 2018’s focus was on Youth Mental Health.
On Wednesday 3rd October 2018, two 5th year Warrenmount students, Iqrah Muhammad and Sahel Zalavi, were chosen to travel to RTÉ Radio Centre with Mr. O’Brien to interview high-profile broadcast journalists Claire Byrne and Keelin Shanley.
Iqrah and Sahel interviewed Claire and Keelin on how they manage their mental health with such high pressure jobs.
The following Tuesday Iqrah and Sahel were invited to WIMS FM pop-up radio station in St. Patrick’s University Hospital to talk about their experiences and introduce their pre-recorded interviews. Iqrah was also called on Monday evening to discuss how she prepared for her interview live on air.
This was an interesting and engaging experience for these Warrenmount students, who were excited at the prospect of partaking in this media experience. Iqrah and Sahel were incredibly proud to be part of the promotion of Mental Health for Young People in Ireland, a discussion that is tremendously important to everyone in the education sector.
The entire school community is immensely proud of Iqrah and Sahel’s accomplishments in this area and are excited to see where they go from here!
These interviews offer a wonderful introduction to Warrenmount’s Wellness Week, 22nd – 26th October, 2018.
