On Wednesday 27 November, the first year attended a workshop in TU and participated in a challenge project to build balloon cars from upcycled and recycled materials. The aim was to test the thinking and motor skills of the students in order to design and create a moveable object. The students had to work out how forces, friction, energies and ergonomics would affect their concepts and creations and to problem solve any difficulties encountered. This workshop is part of a cross curricular link with TU and Presentation Warrenmount and a school/college initiative in promoting STEAM (science, technology, engineering art and maths) subjects among young women.
