On Friday, 16th November 2018, four of our Transition Year students, (Robyn Clayton, Abbie Burke, Zahida Bano and Michelle Kuzmicheva) got the unique opportunity to meet the Poet Laureate na nÓg, Sarah Crossan and renowned Dublin poet, Colm Keegan at the National Library of Ireland.
They attended a talk and presentation entitled #WeAreThePoets about Sarah Crossan’s journey to becoming a poet. Colm Keegan also addressed the students and recited some of his own poetry.
The aim of this initiative is to encourage young people to re-engage with poetry, and ask how we move from children who love songs and rhymes, to young adults who think that poetry as exclusive and ‘not for us’.

The girls have been reading Sarah Crossan’s latest book, Moonrise, in their English Language and Culture class.
The girls would like to thank their teacher, Ms. Fahy, for a memorable and inspiring day and also thank former student, Bernadette Larkin, for helping to make this enjoyable opportunity happen.
Well done, ladies!
